The senior advisor to Ghana’s president, Yaw Osarfo Marfo, made some remarks that the Bantama Youth Association has deemed disgusting and horrible. They have urged the former Senior Minister to immediately revoke his statement.
The Bantama Youth Association has criticized the Presidential Adviser’s assertions that the Ashanti people had no involvement in Ghana’s struggle for independence as being nonsensical. Their comments come after the release of a covert audio recording on which the former Oda MP is heard making some ethnocentric remarks.
In the aforementioned video, which has lately gained widespread attention, Mr. Osarfo Marfo questions the Ashanti people’s role while praising the Akyem tribe as having spearheaded the war for independence during a meeting with New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Eastern Region.
However, the Bantama Youth Association contended that the Akyems had little to do with the creation of the NPP, the current ruling party, while citing historical evidence.

However, he is surprised that the Asantes will become involved in a strictly partisan matter that should not be tribalized. He questioned why Mr. Osarfo Marfo would put himself in danger by uttering such remarks.
The tribal bigot Hon Yaw Osarfo Marfo is. And I do not understand why he invites insults from a wide range of individuals, especially young people. Why must you attack Asantes when you have party problems in your own area? He also voiced dismay in the Ashanti Region’s MPs, who had done nothing to advance the region’s infrastructure development.
“There are 47 members of parliament from the Ashanti Region, yet none of them are working to advance the area. Our MPs have let us down, and if they do not reform, we will choose our own candidates to run in different constituencies in the 2024 elections. Regarding this development, we shall appeal Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He identified some budgeted projects like the Suame interchange and the Airport roundabout flyover, but none of them had yet begun. “The government promised some projects in the area, but work on those projects has not yet begun, and our MPs are taking no action on it.”
