Boakye Agyarko, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who served as Minister of Energy under President Akufo-Addua’s first term, has publicly advised the current president’s administration to tell Ghanaians what is really going on. He says that these hard times are not because of some becauseforeign force – they’re because our president just isn’t doing his job well enough; and we deserve to know the truth.
On Asempa FM’s Ekosisen program, Boakye Agyarko stated that the country’s economy is not too great at this time. He stated that Ghanaians are getting a reality check on just how bad things really are because of international factors rather than internal ones.
He said that the current party did not account for every inconsistency, like outside causes, which is why we are in this situation today. Today’s economy is just not good enough, he boldly declared on Asempa FM, and that is a fact that no one can deny. The government should stop blaming everything (from the Ukraine Crisis to Russia) on external factors, because every administration needs to prepare for those contingencies ahead of time and yet they haven’t done so. We need to be honest with ourselves: if my grandma from my village won’t even believe what happened because she doesn’t know about these conflicts between Russia and Ukraine then it will never matter how bad it gets out there – she’ll keep telling me everything’s fine.
In other news, President Nana Akufo-Addo won’t be able to run for president of Ghana again when his second term expires in 2024. It has been speculated that the New Patriotic Party will need to choose another candidate for future presidential elections. Many members of the party have been vocal about their unease with this decision – Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanteng. These two men currently lead polls as the most likely candidates; what do you think?
