The Deputy coach for the Black Stars of Ghana Didi Dramani says that Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Atizigi who was in the post against Japan in the just-ended Kirin Cup tournament where Ghana lost 4 goals to one had a good performance. He said that there was nothing wrong with his performance.
Didi Dramani says that Atizigi is not to be blamed and has explained the reason behind his absence in the game against Chile. Atizigi who was in the post for Ghana had conceded four goals thereby attracting criticisms from football fans all over Ghana. The St Gallen goalkeeper was bench against Chile and Manaf Nurudeen saved the day as Ghana won 3 goals to 1 during the penalty shootout. Speaking on Atizigi’s absence from the match against Chile, Coach Didi Dramani said that his performance against Japan was not got him benched against Chile.
These were his words “Nothing happened to him, he was one of our best keys and he was in good form. The fact that we didn’t use him in the second game had nothing to d with that game.” According to him, the technical team wanted to give others the opportunity hence the decision to bring in Manaf Nurudeen. He said that Atizigi was in his best form and made good saves.
