A lady by the name of Bernice from Kwanwoma dated her husband known as Akwasi for one year before they got married, Bernice said she helped him with an amount of GHC800 when they were getting married. Two weeks after their marriage, she asked for her money but Akwasi told her that he will not give her any money.
Bernice said she took some of the money he kept in the room. When he came back from work, the man became angry and used a belt to beat her for taking his money. Since that day they continued to have issues but what worried her was that he always beats her whenever they fight. The lady said, one of their tenants called her one night but her husband got angry.
The following day she called her brother on phone to ask for money, whilst she was chatting on the phone, her husband slapped her for chatting with her brother. He again took a cane and decided to whip her. She then rushed to the hospital after she got bruises on her face. The doctor gave her a report and she went to the police station to file a case against him.
Bernice said her husband ran from home for three days, he came home one night to pick up some of his belongings but he took a gun and saw under their bed, he started insulting her and threatened to kill her. The lady continue that her husband’s behavior made her try to escape from the house, to her surprise her husband gave a warning shot in her direction.
She then called the police officer about what her husband intended to do. The police officer advised her to move from the house and stay in a different place till the next morning. According to Bernice her husband was arrested and remanded, due to the love she has for him, she went back to the police station and asked the officers to release her husband which they did.
Bernice said she went to stay with him again for more than two months, her husband again took her money and they fought again. Her mother came to visit them, she then packed her belongings the following night and kept them somewhere. All of a sudden her husband came into the room and sacked them he took a cutlass and threatened to kill them.
The lady said she called her brother about what was happening, her brother too informed the police and he was arrested again that night. She decided to leave her husband because she was afraid that one day her husband may kill her. After she left her husband has not sent her any money to take care of their child and she doesn’t even know where he is staying.
