In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, 20th June 2022, PK Sarpong argued that the scale of the devastating effects of COVID-19 and the Russia/Ukraine conflict cannot be compared to what used to be the case when John Mahama was in power.Â
He asserted that COVID-19 has impacted the global economy more adversely than any other crisis in the past 60 years or more.Â
“The downturn in the global economy now is so huge that it has affected almost every country in the world. Almost every other country is reeling under the unfriendly conditions of COVID-19.
You can’t liken the tragic situation we find ourselves in to what used to be the case under John Mahama.” PK Sarpong argued.
According to PK, there is every justification for the position we advance that Ghana’s economy has suffered and is suffering largely due to COVID-19 and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.Â
He believes that any objective minded analyst or any analysis which has the designs of honesty would conclude that the doldrums we find ourselves are chiefly due to COVID-19 and what is happening between Russia and Ukraine.
