Social media users scolds Asantewaa and her TikTok squad for downplaying musicians’ hard work » ™

– –

Martina Dwamena Asantewaa, popularly known as Asantewaa on the popular video-sharing app, TikTok has enraged several Ghanaians on social media.

Some music fans have chastised social media influencer and TikTok star Asantewaa for claiming categorically that she and her colleagues are the ones who make artists’ songs go viral, rather than their skill.

The TikTok star previously stated on UTV’s United that TikTokers are solely responsible for songs going viral in the country.

She stated that a song’s popularity is determined by an artiste’s impact rather than their expertise or talent.

To Asantewaa, no musician can record a hit song without them.

“I have always maintained that it doesn’t matter how long you have played your music game. When you make that song, it is not about your craft, you need to get us on board before it can blow. If not, you will be the only person singing the song… We make the song trend,” she noted on United on June 18.

In addition, Wesley Kesse, who was on the broadcast, corroborated Asantewaa’s story. He boasted that they had become the “board of directors” in charge of music marketing.

Other TikTokers on the show, which was presented by actress Vicky Zugah, nodded in agreement with Jackie, Hajia Bintu, Felicia Osei, and Akua.

Their views, particularly Asantewaa’s, did not sit well with the majority of social media users, who chastised her for dismissing the hard work and creativity of musicians who labor around the clock to create songs for their listeners.

Others who have criticized the TikTok celebrity have also refuted assertions that they have the power to make a song viral. Fans and the whole business, they claim, are the ones projecting artists and supporting Ghanaian music.
