MC Alger banned by FIFA for not paying Joseph Esso’s transfer fees.

Algerian club MC Alger has been banned by world footballing body FIFA for 2 years. The ban is about their inability to pay the transfer fees of Ghanaian striker Joseph Esso they bought from Ghanaian side Dreams FC. The Algerian side bought him for 170,000 euros on a 3-year deal. Dreams FC reported them to FIFA over their inability to pay and FIFA issued a warning in March this year and directed them to pay the amount together with an interest of 5% per annum which they failed to do.

FIFA Player Status Committee confirmed the transfer ban imposed on MC Alger in a letter to Ameenu Shardow. It said, “Please find below the confirmation from FIFA regarding the transfer ban issued against MC Algiers, which has been implemented today June 20, 2022.” FIFA also announced that the ban will be in force until the full amount owed is paid.

Sometimes I wonder why these clubs always refuse to pay for players bought from Ghanaian clubs until they are reported to FIFA. Is it that our players are not good or it’s something they intentionally do? Let’s just hope for the best.
