Insecurity, insecurity, insecurity. If you hear the word “ insecurity”, what comes to mind? People attacking people? Robber, either armed or unarmed robbing people? Or is it a different thing that comes into your mind? Whatever be the case, there is insecurity at the very moment and people are not safe indoors and outdoor. People are sometimes robbed in their residences while others are attacked on their way to their destination.
Car snatchers, armed robbers, kidnappers, and Sakawa “gung” have now taken all over the streets and the way people are suffering from their hands is something which is not nice to talk of. As the world is changing and responding to changes, these groups of people have also adopted new ways of taking people’s cars from them.
At first, if a group of robbers wants to snatch your car(especially the taxi and other commercial drivers), it was either they come and hire you to an unknown location or a remote area so that on your way going, the next thing you will see is a gun directed at you and will be asked to hand over the keys to them and drop you somewhere along the way. But for now, new strategies have been developed so they are no more using such old ways of taking people’s cars from them.
They rather go to where people have gathered such as funerals, weddings, graduations, or any other occasion or party where there is a mob of people. If they get to the scene, a particular car will be spotted and one of them will walk to the “MC” and make an announcement that “ the car with a registration number….., you have blocked away some go and park well”. At that very moment, the rest of them will be waiting patiently for you out there so the moment you get out, then you have fallen into their trap.
Follow these guidelines to see if indeed your car has blocked the way in case your car number is mentioned at any event so that you do not fall into the trap of these bad people.
1. Stand in an advantageous position to check if you have certainly blocked the pathway of others.
2. If you have some unknown personalities around it, don’t go.
3. If you are in doubt, go with some known persons or call the police immediately for their arrest.
