Fixthecountry Conveynor Oliver Barker-Vormawor has penned five ways he believes can be used to tackle corruption. He believes that anybody that is serious about tackling corruption, will prioritize his five points raised.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 18th June 2022, he wrote;
“End sole sourcing for any contract above 10,000 cedis. How on earth should it be possible for the Presidency to sole source and pay an architect of its choice over 23 million dollars (That is 184 million cedis)! “.
He continued that the second way to do so is to end unaccountable imprest made to several bodies. (We are talking millions of cedis in many instances, which folks like the Presidency, the IGP etc can spend at their discretion without accounting for it.)!
Thirdly, he advised that people who fall victims to party level vote buying must be prosecuted vigorously.Â
He also advised that the fourth way of tackling corruption is to use the disallowance and surcharge responsibility of the Auditor-General compulsorily
Lastly Oliver said that we should Create criminal punishment for overspending budgets.
“How can the Presidency overspend its budget by nearly 180 million cedis, and we treat this like business as usual . And this happens every year without repercussions? Like how can we stop corruption, if they can just spend anything they want anyway; and nothing happens.” He asserted.
Oliver Barker said that if we do these in earnest, we will be getting somewhere as a country.
” Don’t vote for any party that doesn’t commit to any of these.” He said.
