NDC MP makes revelation about National Cathedral: There was already a huge deception and false start

NDC MP Ricketts Hagan has made some strong comments on TV3’S Keypoints. He said that the National Cathedral was started at a time when there are hardships in the country. He further explained that the President had initially deceived the people of Ghana about the fact that the National Cathedral was not a state project but the case is different now.

Honourable Ricketts Hagan also said that if the President has made the project a public project or monument , then the economic benefits should be made clear to Ghanaians. In addition, he requested that Parliament should be engaged and the laws of procurement should also be adhered to. He also explained that if it is a public project , the investors must be approved by the Parliament because criminals would not be allowed to invest into a public project.

The NDC MP did not mince words as he described the process of starting the National Cathedral as a ‘false start’. He asked if the President knows how much would be involved in putting up the edifice and also indicated that there should be accountability to the people of Ghana. He clarified that even the cost of state lands used for the project should be added to the entire amount provided by the government.

He was supported by the Professor David Abdullah, who also insisted that the public procurement laws should be used to measure the procedures surrounding the Cathedral because no private investors would be interested in such a project. What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion?
