The Ghana Education Service Directorate of the Abuakwa South Municipality in the Eastern region has successfully launched Time With Kingsley Series alongside Kingsley Quizzes.
The all important program is composed of;
1. Science and Maths Quiz for Juniour High Schools in the municipality.
2. Kingsley Spelling Challenge for the primary schools and
3. Time with Kingsley Series.
This would be the 3rd edition of the Kingsley’s Science and Maths Quiz, the 2nd edition of the Kingsley’s Spelling Challenge and the maiden edition of the Time with Kingsley series.
Launching the project at the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Auditorium at the Kibi Teacher Training College, the founder, Hon. Kingsley Agyemamng who happens to be the registrar of Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, revealed the need to empower the young for the future.
According to him, 76 basic (primary) schools in the municipality are participating in the spelling challenge, 92 Junior High Schools in the the same municipality are participating in the Science and Maths Quiz while the 6 (six) Senior High Schools in the the municipality will also be benefitting from the Time with Kingsley Challenge. So in all 182 participants will be in the program.
Motivation
1. Each school was presented a preparatory fee of ¢500
2. All schools will have a participation certificate
3. Schools that progress from each level gets a certificate of recognition.
4. The best performing school at the quarter final receives the Beulah Award ( cash price of ¢500.00 each)
5. The best performing school at the semi final receives Luki Award ( cash price of ¢500.00 each)
6. Contestants of schools that make it to the final will each receive a laptop, a set of learning materials with a laptop. Their coaches would also go home with a laptop each.
7. Each contestant of the 2nd runner up receives ¢500.00 and the school will have ¢1,000
8.Each contestant of the 1st runner up receives ¢1,000 for the Maths a and Science Quiz and the school will have ¢2,000. For the spelling challenge, each contestant will receive a cash prize of ¢700.00 and the school takes home ¢1,500.
9. Each contestant of the winning school in the Maths and Science Quiz receives ¢1,500 while the school will get ¢3,000 in addition to a project that does not exceed ¢20,000. All the three contestants their coaches will have an opportunity to have education trip abroad.
They also used the occasion to ballot the schools that contest themselves.
Hon. Kingsley Agyeman added that it is always necessary to empower when there is power hence the #PowerToEmpower
This is aimed that improving the standards of Science, Maths and English in the municipality.
The occasion was graced the the traditional authorities, regional and municipal education directorate, the municipal assembly and the participating schools.
The program is in partnership with Ghana Education Service, Techno mobile, Beulah, Luki media, Fashions Ghana, Fashionable Africa, and a host of others.
