Former Real Madrid striker and Sporting director Predrag Mijatovic have revealed how Real Madrid came about as such a talented young player at that time and how they manage to get him from Brazilian club Fluminense.
According to the 1997 ball d’Or runner-up, Predrag Mijatovic, his friend who followed Brazilian football told him about Marcelo in 2006. ‘He said he was a little boy in Fluminense who has some similarities to Roberto Carlos’. According to Predrag Mijatovic, they practically kidnapped Diego Marcelo and his agent to Madrid because he was wanted by many other clubs in Europe.
Real Madrid, believes in Marcelo’s qualities and they know he would have been a great player someday so they had to go that extra mile to get the boy at the Bernabeu. Diego Marcelo has had a successful career in Spain and he is the best left-back we have seen in the last two decades.
