Large-scale printing of Free SHS branded T-shirts for distribution to approximately 1,274,412 kids now enrolled in schools across Ghana has been uncovered and reported by Starrfm.com.gh. This project is on course by the government to give them to shs students who are enjoying the free tuition and anything at the secondary level.
The T-shirts are being procured by the Free Senior High School Secretariat at the office of the Presidency. The cost of procuring the shirts has not be disclosed but the average cost of Printing a T-shirt in Ghana ranges between Ghc20 to Ghc60 each depending on the quality but with discount based on the number of printing.
These figures helped in making such conclusion on the amount to be used in doing such project. Many Ghanaians has reacted to this project and calling it useless as there are other important issues that money can solve in this country. There are on course of sharing the shirts to the students and what bothers many Ghanaians is “Are they using this to score a political point or what?”
Using average printing price of Ghc30 per T-shirt, the Free SHS t-shirts to be shared for the about 1,274,412 students currently in school means government is spending about Ghc38,232,360. The money involved actually looks so huge.
