The Islamic High School students’ protest which happened in Kumasi yesterday has become the trending topic Ghanaians are discussing. According to the students, the road infront of their school has caused a lot of accidents and the most painful thing is that the authorities are not doing anything about it.
According to the reports, the drivers are always at the top speed because there is no speed ramp around where the school is located. This puts their lives in danger and is a threat to most pedestrians using that road and again they don’t want any accident to happen on that road.
This caused the students to protest against the road safety authorities, sending them a message to do the needful. During the demonstration, some part of the road was blocked by the students to stop any car from getting access.
The police officers who went there to calm the incident ended up making things worst. Some of the students nearly lost their lives and some were taken to hospital. The news didn’t land well for the IGP Dampare Akuffo so he visited the students, and put smiles on their faces after finding a temporary solution to their problem.
With his own money, he purchased ropes that can be placed on the road to avoid over-speeding.
