Today was the turn of the Member of Parliament for the Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, who is also a Presidential aspirant, to appear before the Privileges Committee. It can be recalled that Speaker of Parliament, Right Honorable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, directed the three Members of Parliament, who absented themselves for fifteen working days, to face the Privileges committee.
Kennedy Agyapong, on several platforms, blasted and slammed the Honorable Member representing the people of the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for blowing the whistle. With respect to that, Ghanaians expected the outspoken member of Parliament to disrespect Parliament and not appear.
However, he shocked Ghanaians as he stormed Parliament fearlessly to face the Committee head, Joseph Osei Owusu, and the other members of the Privileges Committee.
Per the Official communique of Parliament, “Kennedy Agyapong had indicated to the house that his absence was inadvertent, due to ill health”. He further answered some relevant questions.
From the look of things, Kennedy Agyapong will be given the benefit of the doubt and it will slide away.
