The member of parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the modus operandi of the government in its quest to construct the National Cathedral. For him, the whole arrangement and set up by the government is deeply embedded in illegality and lack of forthrightness.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has so far put out documents showing an amount to the tune of GH¢200 million which has been dished out from national coffers for the construction of the project. These monies, he said, were dished out without recourse to parliamentary processes or strict public procurement practices.
The North Tongu MP discloses that the murkiness surrounding the construction of the National Cathedral is mind-blowing. He also revealed that to date, the amount government has placed on the project is still unknown.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa claims it is about time for the government to come clean on the position of the project. He stated, “You don’t build a National Cathedral based on lies and deception,”.
