Renowned Ghanaian comedian and satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa who is also known as KSM has observed that our economy is being controlled by outsiders. We don’t have any stronghold on the economy ourselves. That is why we are struggling to turn the current economic woes around. He said “I’m even sadder about the fact that we have a way back in the days Kutu had something called Ghana should have a controlling heist of our economy. The controlling act of the economy is not in the hand of Ghanaians. And that is one of the reasons why the media is suffering so much because it is getting worse in terms of the control of the economy”.
The Ghanaian cedi has struggled to keep up with its other counterparts. Its depreciation is showing no signs of slowing down. The depreciation of the cedi brings this famous quote from the vice president to mind when they were in opposition. He said, ” When the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you”. He also said, “We have arrested the cedi from running away and have given the keys to the IGP for safe keeping”. What are we seeing now? Only time will tell.
KSM made his thoughts known during an interview on the GTV breakfast show this morning.
