Morocco is one of the most developed countries in Africa in terms of infrastructure. They have managed to build a tunnel in Casablanca which is rated among one of the longest in the continent.
Morocco completed one of Africa’s longest tunnels its name is Almohades Tunnel. The tunnel is situated in Casablanca. It was bulit at a cost of $82.1 million in 2021. It is 2,179 meters long 1,817 meters underground. To ensure that people who uses the tunnel are safe, it has 88 cameras installed, 8 emergency exits at vantage points and a 600 LED spotlights.
The Almohades Tunnel also has 36 bi-directional fans, a heat detection system, 84 fire fighting units and a couple of pollution detectors. It also contains an SOS phone system and an electronic sound and signal system with variable messages.
