‘See 8 things military women are strictly not allowed to do and why (Photos)

We often hear about military women who have broken the rules. But what about all the things they’re not allowed to do? Military women are a unique breed. They are tough, strong, and resilient. They have been through hell and back, yet they still manage to make it out alive.

But just like their male counterparts, military women have a set of rules they must follow. Some of these rules are obvious; others may come as a surprise to civilians who only know the military through movies or TV shows.

Here are some things you might not know military women are strictly not allowed to do:

1. Wear makeup while in uniform: This one comes as a surprise to many people who aren’t familiar with military life. Women in the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force cannot wear makeup while wearing their uniforms at work or during physical training PT.

2. Wear nail polish: Nail polish isn’t allowed for anyone in the armed forces because it can get messy and smudge onto clothing and equipment when doing certain tasks like climbing over walls or crawling under vehicles to perform maintenance checks.

3. Wear high heels: Again, this one is pretty obvious but should be mentioned anyway because some people mistakenly believe that high heels are allowed in the military due to Hollywood depictions of female soldiers wearing them when going out on dates or other off-base activities.

4. Wear earrings that are visible from the front of their head. It’s more important for soldiers to be able to wear ear protection while on duty than it is for them to be able to wear a fabulous pair of earrings.

5. Wear jewelry other than wedding rings, dog tags and religious items such as crosses or crucifixes. If they’re injured and need medical attention, they don’t want someone pulling on their jewelry when they try to help them.

6. Wear a tank top that shows your stomach or bra strap, even if it’s hot outside and you’re working out.

7. Wear shorts that are too short about 2 inches above the knee.

8. Drink alcohol on base unless you’re over 21 and at an official event like a dinner with your family.
