Kotoku Royals F.C. is a professional football team from Akim Oda, Eastern Region in Ghana, currently playing in Ghana Division One. Founded in 2003 and given permission to play professional matches in 2005, the club made successive promotions through the Ghana League system to their current place in Division One.
After holding Tema Youth to a 0-0 draw on Sunday, Kotoku Royals have secured a place in the Ghana Premier League for next season. Royals held on for 90 minutes in a game full of excitement and drama, becoming the 100th team to participate in the Ghana Premier League.
They wanted Liberty Professionals to make a mistake on their way to Susubribi going into the game. The game between those two sides finished in a stalemate as well.
Kotoku Royals supporters were overjoyed after learning of their team’s first-ever appearance in Ghana’s top division.
Since Power FC was demoted in 2007, Kotoku Royals will be the first indigenous team from the Eastern Region to play in the league.
