Humping behaviour is often a sign of energy arousal in dogs. They may be playing a game with you and when you settle down or ignore them, they begin to hump your leg or a nearby cushion. This is an energy release and, while it does little harm, it can be annoying for owners. It doesn’t mean they want to have sex.
It is among the common dog behaviors that owners are most embarrassed by. Not often sexual, it can also indicate dominance, over excitement or underlying medical issues.
In a video that went viral, a lady was seen dancing with her dog humping her legs. She continued to dance, paying no attention to the dog’s hump. Ghanaians who saw the video blasted the lady, even accusing her of sleeping with the dog.
Others defended the lady, claiming that this was typical dog behavior. This, in my opinion, is normal. If you have a dog at home, you will notice that putting your leg on its belly causes it to hump. It is just to show their excitement, but not everyone agrees.
