Most football analysts have always said, Africans uses more of strength or physic to play football. This notion can be true. If you have spent time to watch Africa football, especially the leagues and the African tournaments, you will realize that, football in Africa is more of strength than tactics.
And if one is comparing our style of player to that of the South Americans and Europe you will clearly understand the above statements.
South Americans especially Brazilians are very skillful and they normally use a bit of physic but more of dribbling and skills. They also apply tactics but cannot be compared to European football.
Currently, European football is more of tactics, strategies, a bit of physic, more of passes and a little dribbling.
Of course, we have African players that are very good and can dribble as well. The likes of Abedi Pele, Okocha, Sadio Mané, Mohammed Salah and the likes can dribble and score more goals as well.
But the underlined statement here is using of physical or physic to play football. Every footballer uses what he has to gain control over the other. So if I’m stronger than you, I will have no option than to use it against you and defeat you. The same way applies to those who have the dribbling abilities. This means that, every ability that a play has is important and can help him gain control over others.
Now why is it that, Africa has not been able to win a World Cup with with our style of play. Is it because we lack tactics or because we use more of our strength with little tactics?
Asante Kotoko’s winger Fabio Gama has said that Ghanaian coaches lack tactics and depend more on Physic. Can he be true about this and if it is, is it a reason why Ghana and other African countries have not won the World Cup yet.
