Egyptian side El Sharkia part ways with ex-Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey

Egyptian League side Eastern Company, (El Sharkia) has terminated the contract of former Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey according to reports coming out of the north African country.

Kotey, has been on the books of the Egyptian side for the past nine months after joining them at the start of the current season.

During his stay at the club, Kotey played 11 matches in all competitions for the club who were promoted to the Egyptian top-flight this season.

It is not immediately known why Kotey’s contract with El Sharkia was terminated, but he was on good form before joining them having starred in the Ghanaian top-flight for close to six seasons.

Kotey joined the side as a free agent after ending his stay at Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak where he won the League and Cup double with the Phobians last season.

He now becomes a free agent and, can sign for any side of his choice if an agreement can be reached.

El Sharkia are bottom of the stairs in the Egyptian League after 20 matches having amassed just 13 points in the ongoing campaign.
