Paul Adom praises Togbe Afede and says other things: He is an important Ghanaian and a serious man

On Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere made some interesting introductory remarks about Togbe Afede and we believe that readers must know this.

In the first place, Paul explained that he knew Togbe way back in 2002 before Togbe ascended to the throne of the Asogli State. Paul mentioned that, during those days, Togbe was associated with Data Bank with the likes of Ken Ofori Atta and Keli Gadzekpo.

Paul recounted how Togbe had engaged then Mr. Addison, the current Bank of Ghana Governor, in a debate on why the inflation rate was miscalculated. According to Paul, he and his Good Evening Ghana team became interested in Togbe Afede’s presentation and so Togbe was invited to make his case on Metro TV. Paul explained that, after the show, Mr. J. H. Mensah the then senior Minister requested the recording of the show and later submitted the recorded tape to other ministers and this led to the appointment of Togbe Afede to the Board of the Bank of Ghana.

According to Paul, It was the first time Paul had seen the green paper appointing an individual. Paul further explained that Togbe later did many greater things Africa World Airlines, Sunon Asogli Power plant, and Accra Hearts of Oak, amongst others. He described Togbe Afede as an important Ghanaian and a very serious man.

Many Ghanaians believe that Paul’s description of the great man is one that is very interesting due to how Paul later made various analyses seemingly opposing Togbe.

Paul on the same show explained how the return of ex-gratia cash by Togbe Afede has generated sufficient interest on social media. He took almost half an hour to analyze Togbe’s letter dated 6th June 2022 and the constitutional provisions that backed the payments of the Ex-gratia.

Paul also narrated the philosophy behind the payment of the Ex-Gratia citing the fact that more enlightened individuals needed to be attracted by good remuneration.

Paul also made some wild revelations about how the council of state worked and provided a record that Togbe did not attend 84% of the Council of State meetings. Paul further concluded that the accountant general should return the money to Togbe.

A few hours after Paul’s presentation, the Secretary of the Asogli State Council has described Paul’s statements on the number of meetings as ‘incorrect and misleading’ but nothing was rebutted about the praises showered by Paul Adom.
