Gordon Asare Badiako Alleged That Togbe Afade Returning of His Ex Gratia entitlement is hypocritical

Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, has explained why he turned down a GH365,000 ex-gratia payment for serving on the Council of State between 2017 and 2020.

Despite his explanation, most NPP supporters disagree, and instead of praising him, they criticize him and label him a hypocrite.

Gordon Asare-Bediako of The New Crusading Guide, which also owns and administers ABCNews, claimed on an Oman FM platform program called Boiling Point, hosted by Wofa Kwakye, that Tobge Afade’s return of Ex Gratia money is owing to his guilty conscience.

Gordon Asare-Badiako continued his interrogation by questioning why, if Tobge Afade stated that collecting the enormous Ex Gratia money was unfair and unneeded, he received $80,000 for a car loan and all other allowances accruing to him as Council of State Chairman from 2017 to 2020?

He went on to explain why Tobge Afade feels bad about collecting ex gratia, which is legal under Article 71 of the Constitution. He said that, despite significant engagement, Tobge Afade did not attend Council of State meetings on a regular basis when he was chairman.

He said that, based on his detailed consultation, Tobge Afade attended only six of the 60 meetings held annually, and also, out of 59 times, he attended 8 times, and many more like this since his turn of office as Council of State Chairman.

Gordon Asare-Badiako claimed that, due to Tobge Afade’s guilty conscience, he taught himself that he didn’t deserve the ex-gratia entitlement. Tobge Afade should repay all the money and allowances he has received during Koffour’s reign to the country coffers to prove his goal, he concluded his allegations.

Tobge’s supporters may have a different perspective on such a bold choice, but they will continue to admire him.
