The Chairman of the Fire Service Council earlier today Wednesday June 08, 2022 has inaugurated the Fire Service Technical Advisory Committee.
The Technical Committee whose membership consist of the Chief Fire Officer as its Chairman, heads of Fire Units of the Armed Forces, Tema Oil Refinery, VALCO, Civil Aviation, Ports and Harbours, as well as representatives of Volta River Authority, Ghana Water Company Limited, Ghana Chamber of Mines, Electricity Company of Ghana, Insurance Commission and two (2) other appointees of the Fire Service Council has been tasked to among other functions:
✓co-ordinate and ensure a uniform training programme for the Service;
✓ be responsible for the standardisation of fire fighting equipment for fire fighting units, departments and organisations in the country;
✓ prepare a national fire safety programme and provide a common fire fighting strategy;
✓ ensure that, fire fighting and fire protection equipment imported into the country or manufactured locally conform to specifications determined by the Council and
✓ perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Council.
Kudos to the Fire Service Council Chairman, Hon. Kwame Ayimadu-Antwi (MP) for inaugurating this much awaited and all important Stakeholder Consultative Body otherwise known as the “Technical Committee”.
