The Senior Regulator Officer(SRO) of the Food and Drugs Authority(FDA) in Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions Mr. Daniel Ntie has advised herbal practitioners that, they should not fear to approach them for herbal license. He made this clarion call when he met them at Techiman Bono East Regional Capital. He stated that, most of the herbalists or herbal practitioners feel uncomfortable to approach them when they want their products to be examined and get them licensed by the Authority.
Mr Daniel Ntie in his address expressed his displeasure on how some herbalists (herbal companies) untidy where their products are packaged. He further cautioned those who advertice their products without FDA approval to stop otherwise, his outfit is ready to prosecute them.
He finally entreated herbalists (herbal practitioners) to remain focused on their work and stressed that, they should desist from adding things which will make their products (medicine) unworthy for human consumption.
National President for Herbalists in Ghana, Nana Aggie popularly known as (Kyereakyenkyie) has stated that, “Ahaban Nnuro Nkabomkuo” has come to stay and he has implored herbal practitioners to get their products licensed.
He called on all herbal practitioners to join or be part of the Herbalists Association of Ghana due to the fact that, belonging to the Association will make their products well known in the country and beyond. The training was organized by the National President for Herbal Practitioners Association in Ghana.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the FDA and the Herbal Association and said that, they will apply all that they have learned (learnt) and will make everything possible to produce quality, healthy and affordable medicines for Ghanaians and the world.
