The latest news making headlines in the media and social media at the moment is about a local player rejecting the call up of the Ghanaian National team the Black Stars of Ghana.
Social media is buzzing and it’s not entirely about the fact that Augustine Okrah rejected Black Stars call up but also the lessons this new development will teach other local players and that of the Ghana Football Association and the leadership of the Black Stars.
Becham United’s player Augustine Okrah has really showed that, the Black Stars of Ghana takes them for granted. Initially, he accepted the call up and joined the team for the first camping and training but during the fist match the player and other local players were left out of the squad to face Madagascar at the Cape Coast stadium.
And with the game that was played between the Black Stars and Central African Republic, he was also left behind in Ghana but with the next matches the Black Stars called him to join them in Japan but the player has rejected the offer.
This in a way could be seen is disrespect but in a very analytical manner it is rather a lesson to the Black Stars. Why would they always invite these talented and hard working local players and keep them on the bench for the entire tournament to end.
This has been the order of the day, hardly do you see a local based player taking part in competitive match. Currently, we can all attest to the fact that some of the players have been injured so they now need the services of the rejected players. Even with this, it will shock Ghanaian fans that, the local players who went to Japan will still not get playing time.
As a matter of fact, Augustine Okrah is currently thee role model of Ghanaian local based players and this in a way will change the decisions made by the Black Stars management.
