The Executive Director of Africa Educational Watch, Mr. Kofi Asare, has quizzed if it is indeed true that the design of the National Cathedral cost thirty two million Ghana cedis (GHC 32million). He also asserted that suddenly Ghana is rich and it is his prayers for the government builds an ark so that we can float whenever floods occurs in Accra.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 4th June 2022, he wrote;
“Is it true the design alone of my President’s (Not God’s) Cathedral costs GHC 32 m? Wow, we are suddenly a rich people. I am happy there is cash. I pray the next gov’t builds an Ark, so we can all float whenever Accra floods.”
The comments of Mr. Kofi Asare comes in wake of the National Cathedral Project which has gained much attention in the news recently after government released 25 million as seed money for its construction.
There have been various rumors about the Cathedral projects as some Ghanaians have demanded full explanation and clarity of the amount of money to be invested in it. Some have also expressed that, Ghana is facing economic hardship now and hence government could have use the seed money for different projects.
Others are of the view that, it’s a promise made to God and hence the president is right to fulfill it.
