Our fundamental rights and privileges are guaranteed under the 1992 constitution of Ghana. In as much as we have rights, it goes with responsibilities. Your rights can’t be guaranteed if you are not responsible. People are abusing the fact that they have rights and tend to misbehave under the guise that they have rights. Such people must be dealt with seriously to serve as a deterrent to others.
Oliver Vormawor is the lead convenor for the fix the country movement. He has been leading the charge to see changes in our country which is very good. But how he is trying to drive home his message is pathetic and uncalled for. First, he made an irresponsible comment on Facebook threatening to lead a coup. Genuine as his reasons may be, that is not enough reason for him to make such a statement.
He together with some other members of the fix the country movement wants to have an armed demonstration for 3 days. They will demonstrate using their private security and are demanding to speak with the nation on national television. Who does that? That is a threat to security in this country. After all these things, this same Oliver is now asking for forgiveness and that they have goofed. We shouldn’t sit and wait for something to happen before we take action. He needs to be brought to order.
