Readers can reminisce how Oliver Barker Vormawor, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, and Godsbrain Blessed Smart alias Captain Smart, have been in the news for making a request on their own terms asking for an opportunity to exercise the demonstration with private security due to the way they perceive the Ghana Police Service.  Readers can also remember how the news described their intended demonstration as partly eventual picketing as well as a procession.
In the news reportage, Vormawor indicated that he believes the Ghana Police Service is hostile towards demonstration activities and they prefer to use their own security aside from other requests such as going all the way to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to demand a slot on GTV to speak directly to the Nation and lay out their grievances.
Many security analysts and other Ghanaians have applauded the Ghana Police Service for rejecting all such “abnormal’ terms that the State’s security did not appreciate.
Oliver Vormawor, who is also known as a lawyer, has been making statements on this June 4 demonstration throughout this week as he mentioned that it is their plan for the demonstration to be a three-day event since else were in France and other countries, demonstrations take months to finish.
This Morning, Captain Smart has spoken on his Onua Maakye show and he vented out his spleen on reports of comments alleging that arms would be involved in the demonstration exercise. Captain Smart said that he was part of the meeting and there were no such discussions.
In addition, Captain Smart explained that his signature is not even on the letter addressing the Police. He expressed his anger at Vormawor for referring to himself as a Lawyer for the organizers because he does not know him as a lawyer but rather as a lead convener. Captain Smart said even though this recent issue will not break their front, he is not happy about the issues of the “arms’ raised. He noted that as part of the exercise, they planned to march to GBC, the IGP’s office to make an oral petition and then stay at the Flag Staff house till Monday 6th June making the entire peaceful demonstration a three-day exercise.
According to Captain Smart, nowhere in their letter did they mention the issue of “private arms ‘ because he is against such issues and Vormawor should have known that.
Is demonstration the only way to make the voices of Captain Smart, Okatakyie, and Oliver Vormawor heard? Has Ghana ever benefited from past demonstration exercises?  What are your thoughts on this ongoing discussion? Please drop them in the below comments section. Â
