NDC’s Dela Coffie On IGP’s Letter- Oh Ghana, Why Does Everything Have To Be Excessively Partisan?

Dela Coffie, an NDC member and a critic of the NPP government has added his voice on the ongoing issue of IGP Dampare’s letter to the British High Commissioner, Her Excellency, Harriet Thompson. Dela has quizzed why everything has to be partisan in Ghana.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 1st June 2022, Dela wrote;

“Oh Ghana! Why Does Everything Have To Be Excessively Partisan?

So, we would rather support this High Commissioner’s clear interference of our internal affairs and total disrespect of our institutions as against calling her out?

I can’t believe folks are giving the UK high commissioner such an easy ride.

If you care so much about the IGP’s obvious faux pas, why are you letting the British Diplomat off the hook?”

Delia Coffie also asked that where in the Western world would an African diplomat have the nerves to engage in this sort of diplomatic gafe, and will not be hauled into the host country’s Foreign Service for questioning?

He concluded that Ghanaians seem to live in a nation in which patriotism and nationalism no longer matters. This is utterly awful

The comments of Dela Coffie comes as a background to the letter written by IGP Dampare to warn the British High Commissioner not to interfere in the internal affairs of Ghana.

IGP Dampare’s letter was based on the tweet by Harriet Thompson about Oliver Barker, the Fixthecountry Conveynor. She tweeted on 17th May 2022; “Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of Fixthecountry movement, arrested again, I understand for a motoring offence on his way to court. I’ll be interested to see where this goes…”
