Electronic tax on mobile transactions became one of the top issues Ghanaians protested against the government for bringing that initiative to generate income that will be used in managing the economy. According to some Ghanaians, the government has not given jobs to the people and he don’t deserve to tax te little they are getting through their small businesses.
Upon all the protests the bill was passed and the taxation on mobile transactions started working. In today’s news, the Ghana Revenue Authority has cautioned Mobile money Vendors to stop sending money on behalf of their customers to others.
A member of their technical team, Patrick Frimpong speaking on Joy News made it clear that it is illegal for the MoMO vendors to send money to customers. The only thing they are entitled to do is cash out and deposit and not send money to different mobile money users on behalf of their customers.
Some Ghanaians react to the message and according to their views not every Ghanaian have a momo account and before the E-Levy came that was the way most people do their transactions so what is illegal about it.
