I Want To Create A Condition For Ghana Music Industry To Survive Before I Go – French Ambassador

The Ambassador of France To Ghana, HE Anne Sophie Akosua Ave has been a strong advocate for Ghanaian music and has been pushing agendas to create conditions for it to survive.

Anne has not only rested her concentration on her ambassadorial job, but has revealed much love for Ghana in so many areas, in which the creative arts industry dominates.

She has recently revealed that, she has a legacy project which she wants to put on track before leaving Ghana for her successor to take over. She passed this comment on a video trending on Twitter, where Ghanaian Blogger and Social Media Influencer, Kobby Kyei engaged some international personalities of SACEM (Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music), on how they employ mechanisms to monitor the revenues musicians make in their music life. (Tracking the system of radio plays, Djs playing at events, night clubs, restaurants, etc..)

She wrote;

Highly important indeed. My legacy project I want to put on track before I go for my successor to run is to “import” @sacem best practices to Ghana so the music industry can live from authors rights, “neighbor rights”, remix rights, broadcast rights… it is the condition for Ghana music industry to survive. Otherwise musicians will sign with foreign labels and get their rights from their agreements with @sacem or @prsformusic in the UK or wester equivalents.

Following her commentary, she wants to make this dream a reality before leaving Ghana. GH Music Alliance also revealed that, it has been their advocacy and work, and for the past two years, they have been pushing for urgent reviews on music rights, royalties collection, the legal framework covering these and creating awareness as well as sensitization of rights-holders and music users.
