Ghanaians React After Dampare ‘Cautioned’ A Foreign Diplomat Regarding Laws In Ghana

Oliver Barker Vormawor, the lead Fix the country convener has been courting controversy in the country for some time now. The young lawyer was in the news for having made some comments regarding a political overthrow in Ghana and this got him into some fracas with the law. After his release, Oliver hasn’t gone mute but has made other comments. Recently, he was arrested again for some motoring offence.

The British High Commissioner to Ghana added her voice after this recent arrest and said she was keenly watching to see what will happen. The Police Headquarters in Accra has responded to this comment of the High Commissioner. According to the Police Force led by Akuffo-Dampare, they normally don’t respond to such misinformed comments but they feel inclined to educate the diplomat on laws in Ghana.

The letter mentioned that the High Commissioner has violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations which forbade diplomatic missions from interfering in the internal affairs of the countries they are placed in. The Police then informed Harriet Thompson, the diplomat on the list of offences of Oliver Barker and why the British High Commissioner had no right to interfere. The letter though restricted has found its way into public domain and is receiving reactions from Ghanaians. Check out some of them.
