Joy Fm has officially released the current exchange rate between three key currencies in the world.
As at now, the exchange rate between the Ghana cedi and the United States Dollar has reached an amount of ¢8.
This literary means that the cedi has finally broken the eight. The issue of “breaking the eight” is NPP’s key slogan for 2024 elections. The party has hopes to continue in office after the 2024 elections. When this happens, NPP will be the only party to be in office for three consecutive terms in the fourth republic.
However, breaking the eight in relation to the cedi exchange rate is never their target.
As at now the cedi exchange rate to the pound also stands at 9.95. The exchange rate for the Euros also stands at 8.43.
Ghanaians have reacted massively to this and below are some reactions.
From the reactions above, some Ghanaians have gone hard on the government for failing to stabilize the cedi rate.
It could be recalled that the vice president of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia clearly revealed that if the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you.
