That Option Sounds “Sexy” But Cabinet Has Rejected It- Gabby Otchere Darko

The Cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, who is also a co-founder of the Danquah Institute, has “leaked” one of the discussions of the Cabinet Ministers in one of the meetings. He revealed that in one of their discussions or meetings, the ministers disapproved of the alternative of re-introducing price control. Price controls are restrictions set in place and enforced by governments, on the prices that can be charged for goods and services in a market.

“Should Ghana re-introduce price controls in an attempt to curb rising costs of goods and services? Cabinet, I am told, has so far rejected that option. History tells us that price controls have been an unmitigated disaster in Ghana. But, it may sound sexy again as inflation reigns.”
