A 23 years old young lady called Yaa Mary from Brong Ahafo region retells what her father told her after she asked him for money to cater for herself. The young lady shares that her parents got divorced at age 5, and she then went to stay with her grandmother. Their grandmother look after them till she completed Junior High School. She asked her father to help her further her education but he told her that he can’t afford it.
Mary said her mother is staying at Takyiman but she never came to visit her, she too doesn’t know her. She got her contact number and started chatting with her when she was 18 years old. She tried to ask her for help but she too revealed to her that she is facing financial difficulties. After she completed school, she travelled to Accra to stay with her Auntie but she was sent to stay with another woman who was a food vendor at Teshie.
Mary said she stayed at that place for two years, she later stopped that work and went back to her Auntie’s place but the Auntie too told her to rent her own room. Mary said she used to sleep on the streets for some years before she rent a room to stay in with the money she got from her work. She again decided to start learning hairstyling with the rest of the money but it was not enough to cater for herself throughout the years she will be learning the hairstyling. She called her father and asked him money to cater for herself whilst she will be learning the hairstyling.
The young lady revealed that her father told her to get herself a boyfriend who can cater for her, he even threatened to invoke a curse on her if he tries to call her again. She According to her mother, her husband was a womanizer and doesn’t take care of their three children. They had a misunderstanding and got divorced, her husband invoked a curse that he will never set foot to her house with the children. The woman recounts that she is facing financial difficulties that’s why she was not able to look for her own children.
