The New Patriotic Party-NPP’s, regional executives elections, though still ongoing in some regions, has so far produced many surprises that are beyond imaginations.
The delegates conference, which is being held in all the region across the country, saw the election of Regional Chairpersons, First Regional Vice Chairpersons, Second Regional Vice Chairpersons, Regional Secretaries, Assistant Regional Secretaries, Regional Treasurers, Regional Organizers, Regional Women’s Organizers, Regional Youth Organizers and Regional NASARA Coordinators.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region, was the first to record a very surprising scene.
The region recorded a scene, of a party faithful, who is also a very known serial caller, raining curses on Chairman Wontumi, on his re-election as the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP.
The Serial Caller, Mr. Kwabena Nyame; who is a known supporter of Chairman COKA (one of Wontumi’s contenders), was seen holding a bottle of Schnapps, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, and invoking curses on the incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and also on anyone who voted for him as a Regional Chairman.
Volta Region, also had its fair share of the big election surprises, with the biggest surprise coming from the Ho Technical University, where almost entire the Institution was re-branded with the New Patriotic Party-NPP paraphernalia.
The Ho Technical University (HTU), which was the venue for the NPP regional elections, was decorated NPP flags, and posters of regional candidates. some incumbent party executives have started losing their seats.
More surprises hit the NPP, as some incumbent regional party executives lost their positions.These includes the present 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary, Organizer, Treasurer, and Nasara Coordinator, all in the Savanna Region..
Also, in the Bono East Region, the current Bono East Regional Chairman, of the NPP, Thomas Adu-Appiah has been voted out.
Mr. Adu-Appia lost to Ibrahim Baba Bukari.
