Office Of The President Overspent It’s Budget By Ghc172.19 Million Without Approval From Parliament

Popular NDC activist, Yayra Koku has revealed that the office of the president overspent it’s budget by excess of Ghc172.19 million without approval from Parliament. He added that, the percentage of the overspending is a whooping 216.26%.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 28th May 2022, Yayra Koku wrote;

“In case you do not know,

The Office of the President in 2020 budgeted to spend Ghc79.62 million on compensation (wages and salaries) for its staff at the Presidency. By end of year 2020, the Presidency spent Ghc251.81 million as compensation (wages and salaries) for its staff at the Presidency.

This means the Office of the President overspent its Compensation (wages and salaries) budget legally approved by Parliament of Ghana by a whooping Ghc172.19 million without recourse to Parliament for approval. This translates to overspending of 216.26%.

Yes you read right. The Presidency of Ghana in 2020 overspent its Compensation budget (wages and salaries) by a whooping 216.26%.

We are told the Office of the President has a staff strength of 993? Do the math.”

According to Yayra Koku, the source of the above data is from the 2020 Report Of The Auditor–General On The Public Sector Accounts Of Ghana (General Government).
