Hearts of Oak boy earns Black Stars call up

Daniel Afriyie Barnie, the talisman and poster boy of Accra-based Hearts of Oak SC, has been called up to Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

The head coach, Otto Addo, released the thirty-three (33) man squad in the early hours of Thursday, May 26, 2022. This forms part of the preparation for a face-off with Madagascar as well as the Central African Republic (CAR) and Angola in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations to be staged in Cote D’Ivoire in 2023.

The Hearts of Oak forward, who has been in top form for his club since the start of the season, has merited his second ever call up to the Black Stars.

On Wednesday, June 1, Ghana will face Madagascar at Cape Coast Sports Stadium, followed by the Central African Republic four days later.

The senior national team is looking forward to booking a place in the upcoming tournament. They also have another important assignment in Japan on June 10, 2022.
