Cristiano Ronaldo has warned the Manchester United board that he will leave the club at the end of the season if Ralph Rangnik is appointed permanent manager.
The German temporarily took charge at the Red Devils in December, replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the Norwegian’s sacking until the end of the season.
Despite a solid start, Rangnik’s reaction quickly dissipated and there were widespread reports of discontent within the team.
Ronaldo’s future has been the subject of much speculation following news that Eric ten Haag will take over at Old Trafford as the 37-year-old is not ideal for the Dutchman’s preferred style of play.
However, Ten Hag hinted that he wants to keep Ronaldo and the veteran is happy to remain in the theater of dreams.
But things could have taken a very different turn as the Real Madrid legend chose United to stay at Ranknik.
Although Germany’s reign did not go according to plan, United are considering keeping him if they fail to win the Ten Hague or Mauricio Pochettino.
If that is the case, ESPN claims Ronaldo will leave, and he said he joined United last January.
Ronaldo was unimpressed by Rangnik and undermined by comments he made to the media when the German questioned the work rate of United’s attacking players.
The 37-year-old also dislikes Rangnik’s backstage staff and feels they lack the qualities needed to bring the club back to the top.
