GPL Matchday 30 results: Asante Kotoko’s lead at the top cut to six points after they lose at home

Asante Kotoko’s lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League, GPL table has been cut to six points after they lost on Sunday afternoon at home.

The Porcupines were beaten 1-0 by Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as they lost at home for the third time this season.

Kotoko were seeking a 17th win of the campaign but, they were undone by the visitors who recorded another famous win in the Garden City over the Porcupines.

Kotoko still lead the standing, but, their lead has been cut to six points by Medeama SC who won on the road in Accra against Great Olympics on Saturday to move up to the second position.

Berekum Chelsea’s win this afternoon, moves them to the eighth position on the table with 43 points with four matches to end the campaign.

In other GPL Matchday 30 fixtures played on Sunday, Bechem United played out a goalless drawn game with Legon Cities at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Bechem to drop to third on the table.

Gold Stars beat RTU 2-0 at home at the DUNS Park, Bibiani to ease some of their worries as they seek to maintain their GPL status for next season leaving the visitors to battle it out to stay up as the campaign heads to a close.

Bottom side Elmina Sharks lost 3-1 at home to AshantiGold SC to confirm their relegation to the DOL league after staying in the bottom three from the start of the campaign.

Dreams FC and WAFA drew 1-1 at the Dawu Park in a result that will not do either side a favour as they seek to avoid the drop.

Accra Lions and Aduana FC played out a goalless drawn game in Accra with King Faisal Babes earning a precious point away to Karela United at Anyinase to ease some of their relegation worries.
