Ahead of the official announcement by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, the number of players invited for upcoming National team assignment, it appears the list of invited players has made its way to the public. The leaked Black Stars squad is made up of old and new players. On the local scene, Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim is the only player from the Ghana Premier League mentioned in the rumored list.Â
Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim makes the leaked squad ahead of competitor Richard Attah of Accra Hearts of Oak. The latter has had the chance of making it to the National team in recent months , making it to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon early this year. Injuries have plagued his season especially last two months, same time that Danlad Ibrahim has been in top form for league leaders Asante Kotoko. Aside Danlad Ibrahim, others goalkeepers such as Joseph Wollacot, Richard Ofori have been sighted in the list.Â
Southampton defender Salisu Moahmmed has been in the upcoming matches, if the list is anything to go by. In-form Salisu Mohammed has been in top shape this season but has turned down national team call up in recent years. His decision to stay away from national duties has raised serious concerns, with many Ghanaians urging the football governing body not to invite him after Ghana booked a World Cup ticket. Other defenders in the squad are Baba Abdul Rahman, Alexander Djiku, Daniel Amartey, Dennis Odoi and Tariq Lamptey.Â
The midfield is made up of regular faces like Black Stars deputy skipper Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Baba Iddrisu, Elisha Owusu, Majeed Ashemeru, Alfred Duncan. Daniel Kofi Kyereh.Â
Wingers include Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Joseph Paintsil and captain Dede Ayew.Â
Afena Gyan, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Emmanuel Gyasi and Dauda Mohammed appear as forwards per the purported squad.
Coach Otto Addo is tipped to use the upcoming qualifiers as a preparatory ground for the World Cup. As a preparatory ground, it will sever the best moment for new players to be tested by way of giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent. Players who have the intention of switching nationality to play for Ghana, could be assessed through Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will take place before this year’s global football competition.Â
Despite the leaked squad, the Black Stars head coach is expected to hand an invite to some local players who have excelled over the years.
