Deborah Samuel was brutally murdered in Sokoto State, according to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.Â
For alleged blasphemy, the Shehu Shagari College of Education student was stoned and burned alive.
Despite non-Muslim criticism, Gumi claims that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) never killed anyone.Â
The cleric made the remark during a religious sermon at his Kaduna mosque, Juma’at.
According to a statement translated by PRNigeria, Gumi remarked that the best way for Muslims to show their love for the Prophet is to follow his words.Â
The preacher reminded its residents that Nigeria, as a secular state, is not controlled by religious law.
“Anyone who murders a non-Muslim with whom they have promised to live peacefully for 40 years will not smell the fragrance of Paradise,” he said.Â
The Sheikh stressed that no one in Islam has the authority to make laws and admonished Islamic leaders from inciting their people.
“If we assume that by executing Deborah, individuals who do not share our faith will cease disrespecting our prophet, we are delusory,” he added.
