Accra Hearts Of Oak Rely On FA Cup To Save Their Poor Season As They Host Dreams FC This Weekend

Before the commencement of football season, respective league champions have a single motive of defending the laurels they scooped in the previous season. That is exactly the mission of Ghana Premier League defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak prior to the ongoing campaign, but the rainbow club is obviously shifting from winning the Ghana Premier League to FA Cup.

The prevailing situation has complicated circumstances for Samuel Boadu and his lads, who have failed to demonstrate a consistent spirit into catching up with table toppers Asante Kotoko. Their inability to bag three points continuously is almost writing them off in terms of a repeat of last season’s heroic feat. This means, Accra Hearts of Oak are missing out on playing CAF Champions League  this year, but they could make amends with a Confederation Cup action if they clinch the local FA Cup.

Accra Hearts of Oak appear favorite to land the title out of the four teams that have booked a semifinal berth. The Accra-based club will be involved in a semifinal clash with cross city rivals Dreams FC at the Accra Sporrs Stadium tomorrow. This could be a defining moment for Samuel Boadu, who has been under critical scrutiny throughout the season.

The game may go in favor of the reigning FA Cup champions having beaten the opponent in a league game recently at the same venue. Accra Hearts of Oak ended the game as 3:2 winners, with defender Abdul Jalilu scoring an own goal for the Phobians.

Tomorrow’s game may witness same players featuring for Accra Hearts of Oak but changes could be made to Dreams FC side, as head coach Ignatius Fosu is yet to win a match after assuming the position.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and his colleagues will relied upon to set the way for goals which will eventually propel the team to success. Coach Samuel Boadu is tipped to open play which will serve the base for Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to thrive. Youngster Seidu Suraj, who rescued the team in Bechem by getting the equalizer for the team, counts on enjoying ample playing time to be able to replicate his scoring prowess. The budding player gives immeasurable options upfront, complimenting efforts of regular players.

Dreams FC – having lost to same side few weeks ago – will go into encounter with a new set of strategies that could hand them win, especially as coach Ignatius Fosu has come under severe flaks.

The game promises to deliver everything required in association football.
