The controversy surrounding the E-levy which was initiated by the New Patriotic Party government, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is gradually going down, as Ghanaians are getting used to it.
Initially, most Ghanaians didn’t really understand the concept and thought it was going to be an initiative that would carry much burden on the shoulders of Ghanaians, but now they have grasp the concept.
Some Ghanaians may prefer the E-levy initiative to the IMF deal. Following this, Dr. Edward Mahama, a former Presidential candidate for People’s National Convention has recently admitted that, he prefers the E-levy initiative to the IMF deal, if the government is raising revenue for support.
He recently made this admission on 3FM with Dzifa Bamph on the First Take programme.
Soliciting his view on thr E-levy initiative, he admitted that, ”If we solve our problems, I am for that than to go to IMF. I have hope in Ghana and if Ghana does well, we will all be good.”
Dr. Edward Mahama there believes that, the E-levy initiative is far better than the IMF policy, if and only the E-levy will help solve our problems.
