Islam is said to be a religion of peace. How more peaceful could it be?
Blasphemy in Islam is showing lack of respect foelr Allah but is broader than in normal English usage, not only the mocking or vilifying of attributes of Islam but denying any of the fundamental beliefs of the religion.Blasphemy is punishable by death a lot of primarily Islamic countries like Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Brunei, Mauritania and Saudi Arabia
Half of the world’s 49 Muslim-majority countries have additional laws banning apostasy, meaning people may be punished for leaving Islam. All countries with apostasy laws are Muslim-majority except India. Apostasy is often charged along with blasphemy.
In Nigeria, female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education at Sokoto in Northern Nigeria was been beaten and burnt to death for blasphemy. She was beaten by fellow student of the college.they stoned her to death and they burned her for criticizing prophet muhammad.
Islamic students of the college got furious with her due to a message she sent to her school group which could be translated as “Holy ghost fire, nothing would happen to me, is it by force you guys would always be sending these religious stuff in the group, the group wasn’t created for that, but rather as a notice for when there’s a test, assignment, exams etc not these nonsense Religious posts”. This sparked the outrage that caused her death.
Even after committing such an atrocious act, these perpetrators were seen boasting of killing her in a video circulating on social media.
