Following the onset of the controversial E-levy, MoMo transactions have become more expensive, especially if you’re transferring huge amounts of money.
Several observers have reported dramatic drop in MoMo transactions since the introduction of E-levy.
Against this background, MTN, the largest telecom network in Ghana, has unveiled a relief package for MoMo transactions. Here is the message:
Y’ello Valued Customer, kindly be informed that MTN has reduced its P2P MoMo transaction charge by 25%, that is from 1% to 0.75%. Transactions above Ghc1000 are also capped at GHS7.5. Please note that P2P transactions up to Ghc100 on all networks are free from E-levy. Visit www.mtn.com.gh for more information. Keep using MoMo for the convenience and safety it offers. Thank you.
This is indeed great news for many Ghanaians given the central role MoMo plays in the business transactions of ordinary Ghanaians. At least, this package will somehow lesson the “burden” brought about by E-levy.
