Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a speech on ‘Ghana’s role in shaping Africa’s Economic transformation has revealed the initial plan the government had for Ghana.
Here’s what he said;
Digitalization is the path to transforming the African economy. The goal of our government in Ghana upon assumption of office in 2017 was to quickly transform the economy by leveraging technological innovation.
Thus, as a means to leap the development process, overcome legacy problems, and improve both economic and public sector government.
This why is digitalization has been a major area of focus for our government. The reality is that, in this era of the fourth industrial revolution, if you don’t digitalize, you will not have much of an economy.
World Bank president David Malpas said that without digitalization, we won’t be able to reap the benefits of human progress. Our strategy since 2017 is to build a new system through digital transformation.
The elements we set out to build includes a system with unique identification numbers for the population, a system with addresses with all properties and location, a transparent and accountable system, and a system that is inclusive and not built on who you know.
A system that delivers and tackles corruption, a system that provides financial inclusion and a cash-light economy, and a system that enhances domestic revenue mobilization.
Do you remember he has received revenue for the country through a presentation to the world bank and IMF after his presentation?
Do you also remember he has set a record of raising the highest revenue for sports at the Kumasi Stadium in Ghana vs Nigeria through digitalization?
This is a good message for Ghanaians. Revenue through means unthought of will be generated.
